English for Family & Friends
At Hunter College Continuing Education, our English for Family and Friends program is all about you. We provide a private, supportive English-language tutor who will personalize your language learning experience to fit your or your group’s experience level and specific needs. You’re not just another student to us; you’re a partner and unique learner.
Partnering with the International English Language Institute (IELI), Hunter CE offers quality personalized instruction and flexible scheduling at an affordable price. Our tutors are experienced English and ESL instructors with many years of experience. All tutoring sessions are conducted online via Zoom. Our curriculum accommodates your busy schedule and learning preferences, making your learning journey more convenient and stress-free.
English classes for family and friends are a great way to learn English as a second language. With this new program, we will pair your group with a private English-language instructor to work on English reading, writing, grammar, listening, and speaking.
One of the biggest challenges of learning a language is the need for more opportunities to use the language. Enrolling in the Family and Friends English program lets you practice what you have learned in each class daily. You can repeat and practice the exercises in class and interact with each other in a comfortable, supportive environment.

How Does it Work?
- Placement test: To ensure that you and your group are at the right level of study, we provide a placement test. If you know your beginner level, the whole group will start at a beginner level.
- Course Delivery: Classes are done online via Zoom.
- Course Materials: The instructors will provide class material.
